On April 18th, Owner Hunter Vance announced the heartbreaking news that Oasis Restaurant and Bar, Our beloved downtown establishment for the LGBTQ community in Sarasota, would be shutting down on May 28th, 2023. This news has left many in the community saddened and reflective on the memories shared within the walls of Oasis.
SarasotaOUT.com is hosting their May Gay Group Happy Hour (G2H2) event on May 4th at Oasis Restaurant and Bar. This event will be an opportunity to come together and say farewell to Oasis as a community. Over the years, Oasis has been an inclusive space where people could feel safe and accepted. The restaurant and bar have been a gathering place for many events, including drag shows, karaoke nights, and fundraisers for LGBTQ organizations. SarasotaOUT.com has been a proud partner of Oasis for years, hosting many events, including the Neon Jungle White Party, NYE Masquerade, and many epic Halloween parties. The closure of Oasis is a reminder of the importance of supporting LGBTQ-owned businesses and spaces, as they are a vital part of creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive community. While we are saddened to see Oasis go, we know that the memories and experiences shared within its walls will live on forever. As we prepare to say goodbye to Oasis, we want to express our gratitude to the owners Hunter Vance and partner Gabbi Tackett and their staff for their dedication and service to the LGBTQ community. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors. In the coming months, another Sarasota favorite will be taking over the space. Although there is no official opening date, we look forward to the opening of this new chapter in the history of this infamous location. As we bid farewell to Oasis, let us remember the importance of supporting and celebrating LGBTQ-owned businesses and the vibrant community they help create. We encourage everyone to come out and support LGBTQ-owned businesses in Sarasota, and support Oasis until they close, as these businesses are an essential part of creating and maintaining a diverse and welcoming community. |
